Test Realm

The Test Realm is online. Here's what there is to test:

A general rundown of what the expansion will contain includes the expected listing of new equipment, quests, plants, and enemy creatures (Goblins, Hobgoblins, Green Men, and Rabbit Guards). Higher-level player wizards should also be pleased by the addition of a new level 60 gauntlet: The Tower of the Helephant.

Additionally, the starting zone's Ravenwood School of Magical Arts, to which player characters belong, will see the appearance of a rival magic school named Pigswick Academy. Wysteria, in addition to housing the city area with the rival school, will play host to two adventuring streets (Pegasus Place, and Tanglewood Way), as well as a magical tournament that will draw competitors from across the Spiral (the world in which Wizard101 is set). If players are good enough, they may even be able to win the magical tournament and take home the coveted Spiral Cup.

With the basic update details out of the way, KingsIsle further hints that this content update has more surprises in store for Wizard101 players, to be revealed in the coming days.

In the meantime, the new content should start showing up on the player test realm shortly, with release to the live servers occurring a few weeks thereafter, at which point each new zone will be available for purchase at the price of 1,000 in-game Crowns each, or free for those that hold subscriber accounts.

Though all this new content should keep players occupied for a while, KingsIsle isn't missing a step. "Over the last year, we've made a commitment to continually add fun and innovative new content for our incredible Wizard101 community," says KingsIsle's Fred Howard. "We're already hard at work on the update that will follow Wysteria, and we'll provide more details on that major update later this year."

KingsIsle's "2nd Project"

KingsIsle is coming out with a second project soon! The creator of amazing family online games like Wizard101 is rolling out a brand new kid safe game. From an award winning family entertainment gaming company, our second project is sure to delight gamers of all ages
A lot of people know about  the 2nd project KingsIsle is working on. They have completely redone their Products Page, and added WizardBlox and Ki Free Games. Also on their Products Page is some blurred pictures of the new game:

Here's what the Evil Theurgist said:
Ever since March of 2010 J. Todd Coleman has been the executive manager of what we only know as Kingsisle's Second Project. Very little information was known back when I first made a post about their project but fortunately that has changed somewhat. Now we have even more room for speculation and some cold hard facts about the 2nd project. Before we dive into the speculation lets take a look at the facts.

  • J. Todd Coleman is the executive manager (source)
  • AAA game (source)
  • Family Focused MMO... (source)
  • "...keep making games like we've done right now..."- J. Todd Coleman (source)
  • "...(Kingsisle is) coming out with a second project soon!" (source)
  • "...Wizard101 is probably the 1 Triple A fantasy oriented game... so I think our is strategy to continuing doing that" - J. Todd Coleman (source)
So as you can see we've learned a lot more since I first posted about the 2nd project. So all of this has been brought up recently because between now and last Thursday Kingsisle has completely changed their products page. This now shows Kingsisle Free Games, Wizard101, WizardBlox and of course their 2nd project. Scrolling through the products you will now see a few pictures of the product, luckily for us the same goes for each product. So yes we do have blurred pictures of Kingsisle's 2nd project, while they do not show much they show us what looks to be a part of a the UI and some of the locations we might come to expect in the 2nd project. So before you rush off to Kingsisle.com and look at the Products page take a look below at a much better picture without that pesky red label across one of the images.

Luckily the red label is not apart of the real picture but sadly we still have that big yellow question mark. Oh and if you were wondering where you can find the picture without the label it's in the source code for the website.

So now begins the wild speculation. In the first picture we can see what looks like an arctic area, perhaps this is some concept art for one of the locations in game or maybe, if we are lucky, it is a in game picture. Though it could very well be some clouds that have nothing to do with the 2nd project and was just put in as a place holder. The 2nd picture shows off a lush field with perhaps mountains in the background, again this could just be a placeholder. The last picture, and perhaps the most interesting of the 3, has the least amount of "blurage" of the other 2 but sadly it is the most covered up. There are 2 things we can pull from the last picture:
  1. The UI, looking at the bottom of the picture you can see what appears to be the UI or User Interface. While it is not much it can tell us that at least in this stage of development there is a "utility belt" as I call it, think of it as all the pages in your spell book laid out horizontally at the bottom of your screen.
  2. If you zoom in towards the top left and the top right of the picture you will see a light reddish color. It could just be a maple tree or something of the world. The reason I even brought it up is it could be something of the world (like the sky). Because of the implication that the next game will be fantasy orientated. We all know that earth unfortunately does not have red skies so maybe the setting is indeed some far away land.
As time goes on we keep getting more and more information and eventually it will lead up to the reveal whether it be some random day or at a large event, such as PAX or GDC we do know that it will be "soon" and whether or not that goes by "Valve Time" is entirely up to even more speculation. For now all we can do is speculate off of wild guesses or from the very few facts we have, only time will tell if our speculations were correct or absurd, well speculations :)
I can't wait. Hopefully it comes out soon.

Sorcerer 101: Episode 1: The Dryad's Blade

I reached level 12 on Jesse Wild, my Balance Wizard, and was immediately summoned by Arthur Wethersfield.

He said I must defeat a Storm Kraken, Fire Crow, and Ice Colossus, to get a new spell. After defeating all 3 elemental beasts, I went to Arthur with reports of my victory and findings. He said I did well, and told me the next step would be summoning a mysterious Balance Minion in Triton Avenue, next to the Overlook Teleporter, that would qive me necessary information to mastering the spell. So I headed to the teleporter.

New Pet Suggestions

First up, I have to remind everyone there's less than a day left to get the Patriotic Leprechaun!
And speaking of pets, I've found some things around the spiral that would make great pets! Here they are:
The Golems in Celestia

The Crustacean Pincers in Celestia

The Ram mounts in the Crowns Shop

The Samurai in Moo Shu

The temple guardians in Moo Shu
Wouldn't these things make great pets? Please Comment!

New Fairy Wings Mount and Chase the Fire Salamander

First I have to say something about the new Fairy Wings Mount. They look like this:
and cost 7500 crowns in the Crowns Shop, and can be found in 3 different colors: Orange, Blue, and Purple.
But anyway, sorry I didn't post about the Fire Salamander hatch yesterday, I was busy. Well, It's just a Fire Salamander, and gives a Mander card, that looks like this:
Oh, and this is what he looks like while casting his spell:
His pedigree is 50 and I changed his name from Duke Nikki to Chase. And the Patriotic Leprechaun, less than 2 days to get it, for only 2500 crowns! So go buy your new Uncle Sam, while they're still here!
